Excerpt from Frame: An on-Line Correction Procedure for Quantitative Electron Probe Microanalysis
Electron probe microanalysis frequently consists of a sequence of measurements at various points on the specimen surface. In such case, it is useful to obtain the corrected results of the analysis at any point before deciding on the next step. Therefore, an on-line calculation procedure is desirable. However, such calculations were, in the past, available only for empirical data evaluation procedures [6] This communication describes a correction procedure incorporated into a program (frame) which renders possible the on-line calculation with a minicomputer of concentrations (mass fractions) by the traditional zap approach [7.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This bookās examination of electron microprobe quantitative analysis presents a detailed investigation into the makeup of materials. The authorās approach to the subject gives readers the opportunity to engage with the fundamentals of how corrections are made using the ZAF approach and also provides an accessible explanation of the processes involved in quantitative electron probe microanalysis. The author traces the evolution of the FRAME program, created as a benchmark against which other programs could be compared using a user-friendly approach, which allows for statistical data evaluation. The author also includes warnings and alerts for users to avoid specific operating conditions while performing analysis. Using this revolutionary program, the author presents a rigorous examination of the subject, affirming its position as a vital tool for many microprobe laboratories.
