The ideas and practices that came out of the sdc experiment also provided the basic model for the criteria used to define a software factory in the survey described above. The survey reveals that, while sdc managers did not consider their factory experiment to have been a total success, unisys/sdc ranked llth among 38 facilities responding, and 3rd among u.s., facilities, behind only trw and unisys/sperry (see Appendix tables).
