The whole book has now, been; carefully revised, and friendly criticisms duly considered. The portions relating to instrumentation and therapeutics have been, for the most part, rewritten; in the former all recent improve ments are fully described, while in the latter a chapter dealing with the circulatory system has been added, and, at the risk of tediousness, the methods of procedure are plainly indicated.

The author again wishes to express his thanks to Mr. Geoffrey Pearce for valuable assistance, and also to the instrument makers for the kindly loan of blocks.
