Herr Broderson's voice cut more and more incisely into the atmosphere, his sentences were neat and complete, and by the time be touched upon the heart of the doctrine, my attention had with a great effort returned to his discourse; the sun was extinguished, all sounds of nature were silenced, the Gothic cloisters and New York were correlative geographical points, and Broderson the mediator between the new doctrine and myself. My walk homeward in the golden air of the setting sun was a progres sion through the many objections that presented themselves to my mind, one after the other, in reference to the doctrine with which I had just become acquainted.
