Toutes ces questions sont basées sur quelques définitions et propriétés et sur quelques problèmes fondamentaux et généraux, que nous exposons dans le Livre premier et que nous n'avons qu'à appliquer ensuite aux différentes classes de surfaces courbes, ce qui nous conduit à diviser la suite de notre Traité en autant de Livres.
Chaque Livre traitera d'une classe de surfaces et contiendra l'application de toutes les questions ci - dessus mentionnées, donc, autant de questions, autant de Chapitres.
Nous attachons une grande importance à la représentation graphique des surfaces, aux notations et a la manière de reconnaître et de distinguer les parties vues et celles qui sont cachées.
