Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book compellingly chronicles the history of Andenne, a Belgian city whose rich past is often overlooked. Despite its significance as the burial site of Saint Begge, the mother of Pepin of Herstal, the city's story has been largely untold. The author meticulously pieces together Andenne's narrative, drawing from medieval charters and the work of past historians to illuminate the city's origins, its medieval heyday as a religious and economic hub, and its subsequent trials and tribulations. The book not only provides a comprehensive historical account but also delves into the broader tapestry of Belgian history, setting Andenne's experiences within the context of the region's tumultuous past. The author's thorough research and engaging writing style bring to life the struggles, triumphs, and enduring legacy of this often-overlooked yet historically significant city. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
