Excerpt from The Power of Silence: A Study of the Values and Ideals of the Inner Life
The defects of the original edition were due to the fact that it was a first book, and that it was prepared from lecture notes with comparatively few changes. The subject matter was first used in a brief course of lectures delivered in Boston in 1 894. The second lecture in the course, The Immanent God, was then issued in pamphlet form and was incorporated without revision into the volume which was published in May, 1 89 5 The book has been reprinted many times in this country without revision, and a slightly revised edition has been several times reprinted in England.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the nature of the divine and its presence in the everyday world. Engaging with the philosophical argument for God's existence, the author draws on the theory of evolution to establish a compelling case for the immanence of the divine. Moving beyond traditional arguments that posit a transcendent God, the author proposes a more personal and intimate understanding of the divine as the source of life and the animating force of all existence. Through a careful consideration of the relationship between the human soul and the divine, the author suggests that our highest aspirations, our deepest loves, and our most profound thoughts are not merely human but reflect a divine presence within. The book challenges readers to see God not as a distant deity but as the wellspring of their own being and the source of the interconnectedness of all creation. Ultimately, the authorââ â¢s exploration of the immanent God offers a transformative vision of a universe alive with divine presence, inviting readers to experience a more profound and meaningful connection to the divine in every aspect of their lives.
