Nous nous proposions de mettre dans le texte de nombreuses photogravures de personnages et de monuments, mais certaines considérations nous y ont fait renoncer, et chaque volume n'en contiendra que deux. Ces nombreuses photogravures du reste, n'étaient pas nécessaires pour l'intérêt de l'ouvrage, et elles en eussent considérablement augmenté le prix. Il nous a semblé préférable de faire un album à part, que nous publiera/is dans la suite, comme un complément agréable, mais non pas nécessaire.
