No tengo en cuenta la desesperanza que momentánea mente le hizo sentir su infinito humanismo, cuan do vió que la lucha fratricida de Reforma se pro longaba demasiado y cada nuevo día con mayor encono, porque sé bien que no le impidió continuar procurando la dicha de México con aquella misma perseverancia, ni sacrificar muy poco después su propia vida con ejemplar nobleza por la consuma ción de ese mismo triunfo: su falta - si falta hu bo - quedóasí gloriosamente redimida.
