Synopsis
Practical Data Analysis: Case Studies in Business Statistics is a collection of 75 class tested case studies for use in introductory business statistics and general statistics. All cases are drawn from real situations in a broad range of business, economic, and social science settings and include small and large data sets for analysis by students. The philosophy behind the package is to let the cases and data drive or supplement the course. Doing so provides three important opportunities for students and instructors: useful computing experience, hands-on activity, which is more motivating than the traditional course format, and a sense of realism about the use of statistics.

The cases in volume I and II have been updated and revised.
Volume III has been added to include 25 additional cases, covering typical areas of business, including marketing, management, information systems, finance, and health administration.
Instructor's Edition contains additional notes for the new cases in Volume III and information on how to teach using the case study approach.
Students can access the data files via the Bryant/Smith web site.
All cases have been taught in undergraduate and MBA business statistics courses by the authors.
The cases are robust and realistic, but not so difficult that they will discourage students.
The data disk contained in the instructor's edition includes files in Excel, Lotus, Minitab, JMP, and ASCII.
Cases can be selected out of any of the volumes for custom publishing.
Directory of cases shows instructor in which business or general area or areas each case applies (finance, marketing, health, etc.), at what level (beginning, intermediate, or advanced), and which statistical techniques apply.
