Synopsis
Each of the eight sections according to geographical regions (including Scotland and Wales), opens with an historical introduction and then describes nearly 200 leading medieval sites - ranging from abbeys, cathedrals and churches, castles and manor houses, towns and villages, to tithe barns and inns, warehouses for the wool trade, abandoned tin and coal mines, medieval forests and field systems. Other items include almshouses, shrines, bridges, schools, lighthouses, yeoman's houses, etc. It includes Ordnance Survey references and detailed directions for getting there.
