Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book tells the tale of King Louis XVI of France, an uncommonly benevolent and devout monarch who was executed at the hands of revolutionaries with the guillotine in 1793. The author first paints a picture of Louis XVI's generous soul. He cites examples of the king's eagerness to help his people, such as his abolition of certain taxes and his willingness to donate his own meals to the hungry. Then the author goes on to elucidate how the king's virtue was tested. As political unrest spread through France, Louis XVI showed great resolve in trying to appease both the French people and the demands of the nobility. He even went so far as to give up personal power to try and save the lives of his loved ones and his country. Yet, despite his efforts, he was overthrown and executed. The author concludes by reflecting on the significance of Louis XVI's life and death, highlighting his steadfast nature and devout faith in God. This book offers a fresh perspective on a pivotal moment in French history and is a compelling read for enthusiasts of historical biography and French history.
