La première de ces branches a fourni un économiste distingué, François Ebaudy de Fresne, né à Langres le 4 juin 1743, décédé à Vesoul le 15 juin 1815. Son dernier représentant, eugene-jules Ebaudy de Fresne, mourut à Paris en janvier 1895, à l'âge de 78 ans. Il s'était fait remarquer par la richesse bizarre de ses attelages qui lui avait valu, ainsi qu'à sa femme, décédée en 1894, des sobriquets bien connus de tous les parisiens de son temps.
