Não importa este projecto a ideia de fugir, estando morto, a graves responsabilidades: para mim já não ha na vida responsabilidades graves. Deri vã - se o meu plano de uma tendencia á con centração do espírito: O meu livro posthumo será uma compilação de paginas escolhidas com serenidade: um despontar de arestas do trabalho à la diaóle: meditações para to dos, e para o critico - revelações.lgnoro se as quinze mil paginas por mim escriptas desabarão sobre o trabalhador, á falta de excellencia dos materiaes empre gados na construcção do ediflcio. Talvez. Certo é que não esperei construir monu mento imperecível, ou sequer para uma pos teridade de seis mezes. Trabalhei sempre, mais para esquecer maguas do que por dif ferente motivo. Outros se embriagam para tal fim. Depois, em harmonia com o meu des tino desgraçado com um doloroso retrahi mento moral, consequente, enveredei com a minha actividade pelo caminho do Protesto. Fui pelos pequenos, pelos opprimidos e pe los injustamente desprezados. Claro é que não aspirei gratidões e que contei com os resentimentos.
