Excerpt from Protestant Principles
Protestant This word has come in current use to be restricted in meaning to bearing witness against something; but the original and proper meaning is to bear witness before (the world); and the witness which we as Protestants bear is in the first place a positive witness to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in its original simplicity and purity; but, inasmuch as the Church of Rome has departed in so many particulars from the Gospel as proclaimed by Christ and His Apostles, it is impossible to bear witness for the truth without at the same time lifting up a testimony against the errors which have obscured it. It will be Observed that from this point of view those only have a right to be regarded as Protestant who hold Evangelical doctrine.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a constructive analysis of the main principles held by Evangelical Protestants. The authorās intention is for this handbook to be primarily instructive, exhibiting the chief principles held by Evangelicals in a systematic form. While doing so, the author contrasts these ideas with opposing views most notably those of Roman Catholicism and Anglo-Catholicism and the broader Sacerdotal system as well. The author believes both Protestants and Romanists share common ground when it comes to the foundational beliefs of Christianity, including the Trinity, salvation through Jesus Christ, and the forgiveness of sins, but diverge in their approach to salvation and other major aspects of faith. This book highlights the importance and substance of the Christian faith by contrasting these divergent views, making it a valuable resource for Protestants and non-Protestants alike. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
