Synopsis
During one glorious summer between the wars, the realities of life and the sexual ritual dance of the adult world creep into the life of young Margaret Marsh. Her father, preaching the doctrine of the unsavoury Primal Saints; her mother, bitterly nostalgic for what might have been; Charles and Binkie, anchored in the past and a game of words; dying Mrs Frayling and Lydia the maid, given to the vulgar enjoyment of life; all contribute to Margaret's shattering moment of truth. Original Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Ridgeway, John (illustrator). First Edition. Boards have a little fading to the edges. Page edges are lightly browned and spotted with quite dense spotting to the top edges. The pages have a slight odour but they are otherwise clean and unmarked. Light fading to the spine of the jacket and to half-inch bands along the top edges of the front and rear panels. Light brown spotting to the flaps with a two inch crease to the bottom corner of the rear flap. Jacket design by John Ridgeway based on a painting by Monet. First printing. Seller Inventory # 027034
