Synopsis
This introduction to the first concepts of design and technology looks at the things we use for drinking, eating, sleeping, washing, gardening, cleaning, cooking, drawing, writing and painting. The text aims to encourage awareness of the different aspects that make something what it is - its function and shape, the materials used, its colour and pattern. Each spread develops a particular theme and leads to an activity. "Eye-Opener" boxes highlight unusual or historical facts and the book ends with a round-up of modern designs for the future.
