Synopsis

"Evans Bookshelf" is a series of photocopiable books for use in the classroom at Key Stages 1 and 2. Each title includes a guide to using the book, suggestions for classroom discussion and a topic web giving a breakdown of the subject areas covered. As well as covering National Curriculum requirements, the books provide a basis for cross-curricular work. This title offers a wide range of activities which explore topics such as magnetism, meteorology and human respiration. Scientific vocabulary is introduced, scientific theories explored and abstract concepts explained. Photocopiable sheets are provided for classroom work or for use with individual children. Topic webs provide an at-a-glance breakdown of those areas of the National Curriculum that are covered by the different activities. A pupil's own checklist allows children to assess their own work and a teacher's checklist can be used to keep an on-going record of each child's progress. Follow-up activities are suggested for use if further study is required.
