Synopsis
In the early 1970s, the political insights and activism of the New Left began to be integrated into the practice of literary criticism. That practice has profoundly influenced the way that literature subsequently was conceptualized and taught. In Left Politics and the Literary Profession Leonard J. Davis and M. Bella Mirabella have assembled essays on the history of those changes that assess the direction of left literary studies and point toward future goals in light of current transformations of the Left.

About the Author
Lennard J. Davis is an Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania and is the author of several books, including Factual Fictions: The Origins of The English Novel (published by Columbia University Press). M. Bella Mirabella is an Associate Professor at the Gallatin Division of New York University and has written widely on dance and drama.
