Synopsis

This is contrasted with the development of practical approaches to peace, including international and civil society organizations focusing on disarmament and later on humanitarian issues. Oliver Richmond examines the intellectual and policy evolution that has led to the transformation of peace into humanitarian intervention, and intervention for governance purposes.
