The economic crash of 2008 has left a turbulent, complex and highly volatile environment, marked by uncertainty and ambiguity. As the global shareholder value economic model teeters on the edge of destruction, our organizations and institutions need different kinds of leaders. We need outstanding men and women who hold a wider perspective but one balanced by an inclusive narrative that resonates with communities.

For many years the military has identified, selected and trained such leaders, men and women who are capable of leading their fellow citizens through the most demanding of situations. This book draws deeply on the military experience and examines the qualities and capabilities underpinning values-based leadership. Wealth creation supportive of shared social values will be the leadership challenge for the future.
