THOMAS FAIST is Professor of Transnational and Development Studies at the Department of Sociology, and directs the Center on Migration, Citizenship and Development (COMCAD) at Bielefeld University, Germany. Among his recent publications are Diaspora and Transnationalism: Concepts, Theories and Methods (with Rainer Bauböck) and Beyond a Border: The Causes and Consequences of Contemporary Immigration (with Peter Kivisto).
MARGIT FAUSER is a Lecturer and Researcher at the Department of Sociology at Bielefeld University, Germany. Her research fields are international migration, transnationalization, urban studies, and development. Her publications include the forthcoming book Migrants and Cities: The Accommodation of Migrant Organizations in Europe.
PETER KIVISTO is the Richard A. Swanson Professor of Social Thought at Augustana College, USA and Finland Distinguished Professor at the University of Turku, Finland. Recent publications include Key Ideas in Sociology, 3rd edition and Beyond a Border: The Causes and Consequences of Contemporary Immigration (with Thomas Faist). He was previously editor of The Sociological Quarterly and is currently serving as President of the Midwest Sociological Society.
