Synopsis

The Conquerors describes the struggle between the Kuomintang and the Communists in the Cantonese revolution of the 1920s. Andre Malraux (1901-76) served as Minister of Culture in Charles de Gaulle's cabinet. His many works include "Man's Fate, Anti-Memoirs, The Temptation of the West, " and "The Walnut Trees of Altenburg," the latter two available from the University of Chicago Press. "
