Computer-Assisted Instruction for Students at Risk for ADHD, Mild Disabilities, or Academic Problems - Softcover
Synopsis
- Here, from the teacher's perspective, are practical suggestions that can be put to immediate use to fully integrate computers into the classroom ― plus an incisive look at the educational principles underlying teachers' decisions about the role technology will play in their teaching. Throughout the book, the authors concentrate on the teaching tools and educational opportunities computers offer, particularly in today's diverse, multi-capability classes.
- Bender and Bender discuss the learning characteristics of students, particularly those with mild disabilities, and explain how computer programs can help students given their particular learning characteristics. They also discuss the types of CAI available and the various ways in which computers may be used as tools and they provide what teachers need to know to effectively select the right software.
- The authors also cover the practical aspects of using computers to enhance teaching ― everything from the placement of computers and options for computer-assisted instruction.
- Instruction isn't the only use for classroom computers covered here. You also see how computers can help teachers manage instruction more effectively: how computers can provide support for paperwork such as attendance, grade books, report cards, letters to parents, individual education plans (IEPs), and more. There's also an entire chapter on professional development plus detailed information on the various components of multimedia ― from videodiscs to the latest high-tech projection systems.
