The impetus for this book comes from the series of International Symposia on Integrated Network Management (ISINM) and from workshops on Distributed Systems Operations and Management (DSOM), sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
The authors are all experienced practitioners or researchers invited to contribute a chapter relevant to their particular expertise. They come from computer vendors, telecommunications suppliers, software houses, research institutions and academia in the USA, Europe and Japan.
