The blessing of the information age is that doctors, scientists, and researchers of all kinds have more information at their disposal than they have ever had before. The curse of the information age is that all this generated data has led to overload, the result being that data now serves to confuse almost as much as it clarifies. About the Author

Gregory Kramer has been a member of the Santa Fe Institute since 1989 where he specializes in sonification of high-dimensional systems, immersive interfaces, and understanding how we comprehend complexity. He inaugurated the International Conference on Auditory Display and chaired the ICAD 1992 and ICAD 1994 conferences. He is president of Clarity, an auditory display research and development company, where his areas of concentration include applications of auditory display to monitoring and analysis applications. He lectures extensively at national laboratories, universities, commercial research centers, conferences, and institutes.
