Synopsis
The Cotingidae are a family of passerine birds which include some of the most brilliantly plumaged of all birds. This is the first comprehensively illustrated account of the family, discussing their origin, evolution, ecology, sociobiology, and annual cycles. The bulk of the book consists of systemic accounts of all the species, with the emphasis on distribution, ecology, and behaviour. Included are 30 distribution maps, 22 colour plates of all the species, and black-and-white figures showing displays and structural specializations.
