Synopsis
Martin loves taking photos, especially of birds, and so a big photography competition at school should be a dream come true. However, he has Sophia for a partner, who is aloof and spiky and would rather take a photo of a bin than a bird. But as Martin learns more about her life, and her role as a carer for her mum, he discovers they can find a way to work together and begin to see things from a different angle.

About the Author
Nikki Gamble is Founder and Director of Just Imagine and Associate Consultant at UCL's Institute of Education. She has worked extensively in schools across the UK and internationally, most recently managing a project for the London Schools Excellence Fund with a focus on developing excellence in teaching reading at KS2 and KS3. Nikki is author of Exploring Children's Literature and co-author of Guiding Readers. She serves on the National Council of UKLA.
