Susanne Hoeber Rudolph and Lloyd I. Rudolph are Professors Emerita and Emeritus in the Department of Political Science at the University of Chicago. Susanne Rudolph has served as President of the American Political Science Association and the Association for Asian Studies. They have spent eleven years living and doing research in India. Their books include The Modernity of Tradition, Essays on Rajputana, Gandhi and In Pursuit of Lakshmi. Mohan Singh Kanota, Amar Singh's nephew and heir, is the author of History of the Champawats and The Khachwaha Descendents of Hamir (both in Hindi). In 2007, the Rudolphs were awarded the Col. James Tod International Award.
