Synopsis
This text aims to introduce the complete field of nonlinear dynamics to students, scientists and engineers who have little or no previous experience in the field, and only a modest background in physics and calculus. It describes state space dynamics, iterated map models and methods of quantifying chaotic behaviour. Combined with its treatment of "advanced" topics such as Hamiltonian dynamics, pattern formation and quantum chaos, the book leaves the reader ready to tackle research literature in nonlinear dynamics.
