About the Author

Roger Barnard is an Associate Professor in Applied Linguistics at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. His recent publications include Researching Language Teacher Cognition and Practice (2012, edited with Anne Burns) and Creating Classroom Communities of Learning (2009, edited with Maria Torres-Guzman).

Dorothy E. Zemach teaches composition courses and English as a second language at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She has a Certificate from the Sorbonne, B.A. from Reed College, and M.A.T. in ESL from School of International Training. She previously taught English, French, and Japanese and has been corporate trainer in business communication. Zemach has taught at several schools in Japan, University of Hawaii, and American Language Center in Rabat, Morocco. She is the author of teachers' manuals for business English texts and published grammar tests, as well as consultant to several university presses and USAID, and has authored many papers and presentations.
