It discusses the many different techniques that are available for the examination of the visual field, eg kinetic, suprathreshold and fill threshold, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages. It also describes many of the current visual field instruments describing both their strategies and their techniques for analyzing perimetric results. Their is a comprehensive chapter detailing how the visual field is affected by parameters, such as retractive errors and pupil size, with tips on how these can be controlled and compensated for. Pathologies which affect the visual field are discussed, with speical chapters devoted to glaucoma and the screening for glaucomatous visual field loss.
