There are more refugees in the world than many countries have inhabitants: their needs for health care, and not just for temporary medical aid, are great. This book aims to meet that need. It discusses the problems of planning and implementing all the steps, from water supply to immunization, needed by refugee communities and provides a guide for those involved in work with refugees as well as for leaders of refugee populations. Anyone contemplating work with refugees will find this book extremely helpful. It can usefully be read long before the health worker goes to the field, since it sets out a philosophy as well as a practical programme. It will therefore be of interest to a wide group of health workers involved in developing countries.
