Since 1990, the Refugee Families Program has been working with refugee groups in Chicago. Although this manual is particularly geared for those working with refugees, the manual's precepts can be applied by all who deal with populations in similar institutions of isolation from the surrounding culture. The authors cover such topics as family enrollment, recruitment and training of staff and volunteers, child-parent classes, and teaching of English to adults.
