About the Author

Educated at McGill University (BA 1969) and the Ohio State University (MA 1970, PhD 1973), Robert R. Haccoun is Professor of Psychology at the Universite de Montreal. Prior to returning to academia in 1978, Professor Haccoun was a research scientist for Bell Canada in Montreal. He is a founding member and past president of the Industrial-Organizational Psychology section of the Canadian Psychological Association. He has led a number of research studies, mainly focused on training, absenteeism, and research methodology, and delivered papers at scientific conferences. His research articles are published in Canada in journals that include Canadian Psychologist, Canadian Journal of Behavioural Sciences, and the Canadian Journal of Administrative Studies. Internationally, his research is published in Personnel Psychology, the Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behaviour and Human Decision Processes, the Journal of Organizational Behaviour, and Applied Psychology: An International Review. He has contributed chapters to several books, and his co-authored research book, Comprendre l'organisation: Approches de recherches, has been translated into Spanish. His statistics textbook, published in 2007, is in its second edition (2010). He is a reviewer for many scientific journals and has served on scientific advisory boards for provincial, national, and international research funding agencies. Active in the transfer of knowledge from academia to applied settings, he has written many non-technical articles and delivered conferences aimed at professional audiences. His consulting services have been called upon by organizations in Canada, the United States, and Europe. After receiving her MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Oregon in 1970, Linda Wong started her teaching career in the Springfield School District in Oregon. After six years, Linda left the classroom to start an educational consulting business, which included self-publishing classroom activity books and operating a school supply store. In 1983, she returned to the classroom to begin a 22-year teaching career in the Academic Learning Skills Department at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon. At Lane, Linda taught developmental education and college study skills courses and actively participated in curriculum development projects, the Women's Transition Program, programs for students with learning disabilities, and the campus Diversity Team. In Las Vegas, Linda has continued her involvement in education as an educational consultant, a presenter at national conferences, and an author of several textbooks. After several years of freelancing as a writer of magazine articles and a reviewer for several college textbook publishers, Linda began her career as a textbook writer in 1994 with the first edition of ESSENTIAL STUDY SKILLS. She continues authoring textbooks and exploring other avenues of writing. Linda has one son, Kailee, and three beautiful grandchildren.
