Synopsis
This case study in cultural anthropology documents a group of people from the point of initial contact in 1969 to the present, through the vantage point of a single author. Dr. Shaw first visited the Nomad region of Western Province, Papua New Guinea shortly after it was derestricted in November 1969. The text is enriched by excerpts from anthropological field notes, notes from the author's personal journal, and personal points of view from the inhabitants of the area.
