Review

Windhover by Alan Brown will appeal to all ages. It’s about a baby kestrel who gets abducted by a child who eventually thinks better of it.
The large illustrations are strangely calming. It’s the perfect just-before-bedtime item because it puts everyone into a good mood and takes only five minutes to read. (The Observer)

This is one of the most beautifully illustrated books I have ever seen and its message – that you should never try to own a wild creature – is crystal clear.

About the Author

Alan Brown was born near London, but has spent all his adult life in the North of England. He loves open and wild countryside and now that he lives in Sheffield, he spends a lot of time in the Peak District. His hobbies are walking and tennis. He started to write for children after his own two were grown up: ‘I think it’s a way of keeping their childhood and mine alive in my mind. I hope readers enjoy my stories as much as I enjoyed writing them.’
