Why do we believe in gods, miracles, and superstitions? How did myths, legends, and religious explanations shape human societies? And how did science—rooted in logic, experiment, and evidence— challenge and eventually transform these beliefs? In From Myths to Science, eminent scientist, poet, and thinker Gauhar Raza explores the fascinating dialogue between science, religion, faith, and superstition across centuries. From ancient creation stories to Darwin’s theory of evolution, from Galileo’s struggle with the Church to Einstein’s revolution in physics, this book brings together history, philosophy, and science communication in a way that is accessible, engaging, and deeply thought-provoking. Drawing on decades of research and his experience with the People’s Science Movement in India, Raza examines: The evolution of myths and creation stories across civilizations The conflict and coexistence of religion and science in history The rise of scientific temper and rationality in modern societies How superstition, godmen, and pseudo-science still shape contemporary life Why asking questions is the essence of human progress Written in clear, captivating prose, this book bridges science writing, the history of ideas, and cultural critique, making it a must-read for lovers of science, philosophy, sociology, and history. From Myths to Science is both an intellectual journey and a passionate appeal to nurture reason, curiosity, and scientific temper in our times.
