When their friend Jonathan goes missing after a visit from a stranger, Flavia Gemina, Nubia, and Lupus follow the rumors and clues that lead them to Rome and the Golden House of Emperor Nero, in a historical mystery about the destruction of Jerusalem set in A.D. 79. Reprint.

I enjoyed this book a lot - it won me over early on with a dream that made use of Penelope's loom, combining some of my favourite themes! And Flavia describing the under-construction Colosseum as 'colossal' made me smile (and yes, the author's note at the back makes clear that the name comes from the statue, not the amphitheatre itself, but Flavia doesn't know that!). (Pop Classicist Juliette Harrison)
The fourth Roman Mystery takes the friends to Rome on a dangerous assignment as Jonathan grapples with guilt and anger.
