Tramp, separated from his friend and owner, Joe, is journeying through America trying to find his way home. He is befriended and saved by a young girl, Kelly, and saves her life in return when she lies injured on the railway lines. But he knows he cannot stay with Kelly, he cannot rest until he finds Joe. The story ends as he continues his long journey home.
