About the Author

James Wilcox is the author of seven novels. His eighth, Heavenly Days, has just been published. He is the head of the creative writing program at LSU, where he also teaches a course in literature and publishing. His publications include the novels Modern Baptists, North Gladiola, Miss Undine's Living Room, Sort of Rich, Polite Sex, Guest of a Sinner, and Plain and Normal. His short stories have been published in The New Yorker, Avenue, and Louisiana Literature.


Jim Crace is the author of The Gift of Stones (1988), Arcadia (1992), Signals of Distress (1994), Quarantine (1997), which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize for Fiction, Being Dead (1999) which won the Whitbread Novel Award, the National Book Critics' Circle Fiction Award (USA) and was shortlisted for both the Booker Prize for Fiction and the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, The Devil's Larder (2001), and Six (2003).
