Synopsis

Anne and her widowed mother live quietly, until a local encampment of army regiments brings Anne an army of suitors, including headstrong and rude Festus Derriman who has good prospects; John Loveday, the thoughtful trumpet-major who hasn't any; andhis brother Bob, whose heart isn't as faithful as it should be. Anne has many hazards to overcome before she can marry the man of her choice. A wonderfully comic and affectionate picture of a small rural community.
