Synopsis
This introduction to both traditional and modern analytic methods aims to show something of the variety of methodology in modern analytical chemistry. The text covers the traditional topics of titrimetric and gravimetric analysis in the first 11 chapters and provides an elementary coverage of instrumentation topics such as potentiometry, electrochemistry, spectrophotometry, emission spectroscopy and chromatography in chapters 12-19. The sixth edition includes material on the mechanism of the glass electrode and other ISEs, and provides coverage of the topic of equivalents and normality. The book revises the instrumental material to conform to modern physics standards and features a new chapter that develops perspectives designed to help scientists in all areas evaluate analytical data for their own purpose. Also included are chapters on spectroscopy and chromatography, more calculations and new end-of-chapter questions and problems.
