From the Author

IN A WORLD FULL OF INFORMATION, HOW DO YOU COMMUNICATE?
The working world is flooded with information, much of it electronic, yet still we have to get our messages across; clearly concisely and convincingly. My aim in writing this book was to cover all of the main 'channels' of communication used by those working in commercial, public and voluntary sector organisations. The text is in two sections, the first covering general principles of communication and the second, their practical application. This structure allows readers to use the book in whatever way best suits their requirements. Numerous real life case studies, including BT, Ikea and Oxfam illustrate the importance of effective communication at work. I hope that these, along with the many practical exercises and 'discussion points', make for an interesting and useful learning experience for students and for those already working in organisations.

'This book provides excellent coverage of the topics we address, such as meetings, presentations, negotiation, and other key communication skills. I believe that these skills are essential for undergraduates entering the business world and have no hesitation in recommending 'Effective Business Communication' as a core text.'

KEN RABEY, SCHOOL OF COMPUTING, STAFFORDSHIRE UNIVERSITY

'Recognising from the outset that effective communication lies at the heart of competitive advantage, 'Effective Business Communication' will be of interest to a range of consumers, from the NVQ Management student or the first year undergraduate, to the A Level or Advanced GNVQ Business teacher (or able student), who wishes to augment or update notes. Blundel centres his lively and readable account on people and their interactions.'
