The Ekwall/Shanker Reading Inventory (ESRI) features forty diagnostic tests to help educators, school psychologists, resource teachers, and reading specialists successfully assist individual students in developing their reading ability. About the Author
About our author
Ward Cockrum earned a BA in Elementary Education and an MEd in Reading Education at the University of Arizona. He has a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Reading Education from Arizona State University. With over 30 years of involvement in literacy education, Dr. Cockrum's teaching experience includes being a reading specialist in a K to 4 school, a middle school reading/science teacher, a 5th grade teacher and a pre-1st grade teacher.
Currently, as a professor at Northern Arizona University, he directs the Reading Endorsement Program and teaches a variety of reading education courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He is a long-time member of the International Reading Association. He has coauthored two reading methods textbooks, Locating and Correcting Reading Difficulties and the Ekwall/Shanker Reading Inventory.
