A practical, easy-to-follow three-part organization provides the following information: 1) A history of education for handicapped individuals and of legislation which governs service delivery; 2) specifics of the nature of exceptionalities and how characteristics help determine instructional needs; and 3) instructional strategies most likely to be effective with special needs learners. The first four chapters concentrate on information applicable for all exceptionalities; while the balance of the text consists of eight chapters, each of which is devoted to a specific exceptionality.
