Synopsis
Using a block diagram approach to basic logic operators, this book covers the electrical characteristics of the logic ICs. For each new device or circuit, Tocci describes the principle of the operation, gives examples and then shows its actual application. Introducing the IEEE/ANSI logic symbols gradually, the new edition expands the troubleshooting applications, and offers coverage of state transition diagrams, parity checkers and generators, bidirectional shift register, synchronous counter design, and code converters. There is also expanded coverage of programmable logic devices and A/D converters, and of new applications such as the digital storage oscilloscope and function generator. Finally, the book emphasizes how each logic device fits into a microcomputer system.
