Technologies for Solar Thermal Energy: Theory, Design and Optimization is a thorough reference discussing industrial process heat and thermal power generation with fundamental concepts, detailed theory and practical consideration for design, performance analysis as well as economic assessment.
Addressing the significance of power generation from solar thermal energy, this title addresses the different power cycles for solar thermal power plant and comparison analysis; the advantages of solar thermal power system compared with photovoltaic system; and the corresponding energy storage technology and the working materials as well as the design method of a solar thermal power plant.
Where thermal solar energy can be applied and expected constraints are considered, with particular focus on the type of solar system (e.g. linear, point focus, mirrors, Fresnel, etc.) and how that should be adopted for different applications sch as power generation, process heat and household water heating.
This book is most valuable for lecturers, postgraduate and undergraduate students, who will benefit from the technological advances while researchers and engineers can use this book for modern theories and design aspects to enhance knowledge and conduct research in the field of Solar Thermal Energy.
