"TCP/IP Clearly Explained, 4th edition, is a well-written book that presents an up-to-date treatment of TCP/IP networking. Peter Loshin addresses all of the important areas of TCP/IP networking and provides the reader with a picture of the future direction of the technology. I recommend the book for both students and professionals who want to get an in-depth understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite."

A resource for learning or working with TCP/IP
This third edition of "TCP/IP Clearly Explained" distills my 12 years of experience with TCP/IP and internetworking--and incorporates reader suggestions for improvements. Now, each chapter explains these sometimes difficult topics even more clearly than before. At the end of every chapter are references to the source Internet standard documents--RFCs--relevant to the chapter topic, so you can easily discover the most intimate details of each protocol.
Back in 1988, you needed a degree in computer science to really understand TCP/IP. In 1994, I set about writing an introductory text for the rest of us, and this year the third edition came out. I hope you like it. Let me know what you think.
