9780124023659: Integer and Mixed Programming Theory and Applications (Mathematics in Science & Engineering)

Synopsis

This highly nonstandard treatment of discrete optimization is a translation of "Methodes et Modeles de la Recherche Operationnelle", volume III. The book is divided into Parts 1 and 2 and a Supplement. Part I, "Methods and Models" coincides with Chapter I, "Programs with Integer and Mixed Values" (Part 2 bears the same relationship to Chapter II), and consists of eight Sections. Of these, 2, 5, 7 and S are devoted to examples ranging from problems with two variables to an airline crew assignment problem whose description comprises fifteen pages. These examples are the strongest feature of this text, since they deal in depth with a number of interesting applications.
